About

A small studio that makes one useful thing at a time.

What dotorium is

dotorium is an independent studio based in South Korea. It builds small web tools and keeps them running. The goal is modest: each tool should solve one everyday question quickly, in clear words, on any phone, without making anyone create an account first.

The first project is Hongsil, a free Korean saju reading. More tools will be listed on the home page as they are released.

Why “dotorium”

Dotori (도토리) means acorn in Korean. An acorn is small, easy to overlook, and worth collecting. The studio's mascot is an acorn for the same reason: the projects are small on purpose.

How projects are built

Every project follows the same rules. It has to load fast, it has to work without sign-up, and it has to say plainly what information it keeps and when that information is deleted. Readings in Hongsil, for example, are removed thirty days after they are made.

Content is written to be read by people who are new to the subject. Hongsil explains saju with words like wood, fire, earth, metal and water instead of specialist terms, and it is careful not to present a reading as medical, legal or financial advice.

How it is paid for

The tools are free to use. To cover running costs, dotorium has applied to show advertising through Google AdSense. No ads are shown at the moment. If that changes, the privacy page will be updated first.
