Based on the official 2027 calendar standard (월력요항) announced by the Korea AeroSpace Administration on June 29, 2026. Election days and one-off temporary holidays are decided later and are not included.

What is different in 2027

Labor Day and Constitution Day are counted as public holidays in the official 2027 calendar. Both fall on a Saturday, and each has a substitute holiday on the following Monday: May 3 and July 19.

Four holidays land on a Sunday: Seollal (Feb 7), Memorial Day (Jun 6), Liberation Day (Aug 15) and National Foundation Day (Oct 3). Three of them have a substitute day in the list above. Memorial Day does not.

Counting Sundays, government offices are closed on 72 days in 2027. For people on a five-day week the total comes to 119 days off, according to the same announcement.

Long weekends

These are the 10 runs of three or more days off in a row, counting Saturdays and Sundays.

Chuseok falls midweek (Sep 15, Wed). Taking Monday Sep 13 and Friday Sep 17 off turns it into nine days in a row, Sep 11 to Sep 19.

Dates that move every year

Three holidays follow the Korean lunar calendar, so their dates change each year. In 2027 Seollal is Feb 7, Buddha's Birthday is May 13, and Chuseok is Sep 15. Seollal and Chuseok each include the day before and the day after.

The Korean lunar calendar is calculated for Korean time. It usually matches the Chinese calendar, but in some months the first day differs by one, so check a Korean source when the exact date matters.
